Plan your wedding with us, Costa Rica Legal Requirements for getting married are simple, as general information you may need:

Certificate of marital status: authorized legal document issued at the bride’s and groom’s country of residence.


Mandatory:

If either groom or bride, has been married previously, a photocopy of the final Judgment executing the divorce, also, complete name of the other party, date of divorce, and place where the divorce or death took place.

Current passports for Groom, Bride and Witnesses(copies needed in advance).

Birth Certificates for Groom and Bride.

Single or divorce certificates for groom and bride.

In case the bride has been divorced from previous marriage during the previous 10 months from the wedding date, a pregnancy exam will be requiring.

Two witness at the ceremony. Anyone can serve you as witnesses even your close family or the Hotel employees

Fill out the wedding information questionnaire that will include:

Complete name and last name

Passport number

Nationality

Birth date and place of birth

>Age

Profession

Residence address

Parents’ information

And two witnesses


After the ceremony, you will receive a marriage statement copy sent to the Costa Rican Civil Registry, once all documents have been submitted to the Costa Rican Civil Registry (the governmental institution which records the marriages in Costa Rica) the lawyer will summit a final certification to your Embassy for Consular Authentication. Original documents (official marriage certificate) will be sending to you as soon they are ready.

The marriage in Costa Rica is recognized in the USA and Canada and it is considered legal internationally.
